White on Black

Today I finally had a use for the ‘interesting but never useful to me before’ Universal Access control panel on my Mac: I used it to remember what the key command was for switching from Black on White display to White on Black display.

“Why?” you may ask. Because at this very moment I’m sitting outside in the backyard where it’s a beautiful sunny day and this poor old LCD screen cannot compete with the daylight in Black on White mode (for those who have no idea what I’m talking, that referes to black text on a white background, the standard display mode for things like Work and TextEdit). But switch it over to White on Black mode and voila! I can see everything pretty clearly again.

That magic key combination is Ctrl-Opt-Cmd-8 - give it a whirl, you’ll amaze your friends.
