The handiest <div> ever

This has got to be the handiest <div> ever:

Supra-jenus ‘Hello World’

From Kathy Kam on the MS CLR team comes the prettiest little ugly “Hello World” I’ve ever seen (the Brainfuck one is definitely uglier but is not pretty, so shut it!):
Hello World - Reflection Style.
C#, I like you.
(Thanks Jay!)

Shipping Longhorn

I love stories like this: Microsoft Windows Officially Broken.
Note that the title of the article is actually quite sensationalist and completely misleading - this story is actually one of success, how the Longhorn team is slowly revitalizing the way Microsoft writes its software. The turn-around is impressive.

Register for your demo? Bugger off

Here’s a thought for other software developers: if you want me to try a demo of your software asking me to fill out a form giving you a large chunk of personal information before I ever get to see your app is not the way to endear me to you.

Going to be in Malta? Go see this show

The Labyrinth is introducing the incredibly talented Canadian singer and songwriter David Ellul as the resident artist on Acoustic Fridays. David’s repertoire is [...]

“Land of Confusion” by Disturbed

Disturbed’s new album “Ten Thousand Fists” contains an amazing cover of Genesis’ “Land of Confusion” - hardcore and techno-pop at the same time… it blows my mind to hear David Draiman singing a Phil Collins song.
$5 says this track is the first single from this album.

Drop Bocks 0.3 released

For a long time I’ve been looking for a decent web-based drop box application. I’ve found pure HTML ones, perl-based CGIs, and the odd PHP-based one but haven’t found one I liked. So I set out to build it… and build it… and then I got a nasty cold that knocked me down for a [...]

CockOS makes ASSniffer

Hey, it’s not me, it’s Justin Frankel wunderkind creator of Winamp and the Gnutella protocol and they’re his new software company and one of their new products.

Elegant UI

I love this statement from Havoc Pennington on how to design a simplified UI:

Imagine your dialog has a “don’t care, pick something” button, just do what that button would do, and lose the silly dialog.

Amen.
Update: The more I read of Havoc’s stuff, the more I like, particularly this statement:

One of the hardest lessons of [...]
