Greyhounds in dire need

Ordinarilly I rant about the tech industry and software development but this time not so. This time it’s about greyhounds in need, specifically 500 that will be killed if homes can’t be found for them.
From Craig’s List: Greyhounds need home or will be euthanized.
I’ve had the pleasure of knowing one particular greyhound named Bob for a couple of years now and if Bob’s a typical greyhound in manner and temperment then greyhounds are probably the easiest, most low-maintenance dog I’ve ever seen.
They’re fast, yep, second fastest mammal in the world next to the Cheetah, but only for five minutes at a time. The other 23 hours and 55 minutes of the day they’re lazy as hell, the opposite of hyper. They like to sleep, they like to play, they like ride in cars, they like laying around in bed. In the two years I’ve known him I’ve heard Bob bark three times and once was because I accidentally stepped on him in the night. They’re pretty quiet that way.
They’re absolutely gorgeous: tall, sleek, and streamlined. If you’re the narcisstic type who wants your dog to get you attention a greyhound will get you stopped and stared at every time you walk it (and guys, the ladies do love a greyhound - trust me).
Am I selling you yet? For me the question is not “if” I’d get a greyhound, it’s when. And if I get one half as good as Bob it’d be the second best dog in the world.
Read on.
The greyhound track in Plainfield, CT voted on April 26th that they would discontinue greyhound racing.
Unfortunately - and heartbreakingly - they’ve also decided that rescuers have only two weeks to get the dogs out, and any dogs remaining at the track will be euthanized. This is a monumental task because there are at least 500 dogs currently at the track.
…
In order to save as many dogs as we can, we are going to try something we’ve never done before; sending as many as possible out into foster care. Every time we send a dog into an adoptive home or a foster home, we can take another dog off the track. We will take the fostered dogs back into the Dakin Animal Shelter for adoption over the next few months as spaces open up for them - as long as they’re off the track, they’ll be safe.
…
How can you help? a.. Adopt a greyhound. They’re wonderful dogs - gentle, quiet, sweet, and graceful.
…
Greys are not hyper - they’re actually couch potatoes! b.. They love to run - for about 5 minutes - in a safe, fenced area. c.. Greys spend most o f their day snoozing and adore soft sleeping places and all the comforts in life. d.. They are actually very good dogs for apartments or small homes because of their low activity level.
It’s all true.
If you’ve been thinking about getting a dog a greyhound is a fantastic dog. Click that link up there and give a read.
