There’s the browser wars, the OS wars, the text editor wars, and they all have their zealots but I find none so self-aggrandizing, pretentious and self-righteous as the open-source software zealots.
Witness this comment on Slashdot in response to a Linux distributor’s choice to use currently-proprietary software in it’s development process:
They are now propriatary software developers, and it is immoral to support ubunto because of it, unfortunatly.
There is no morality in software development you twit, none. Software application perhaps, but absolutely none in it’s development. Now they’re not giving you their toys for free and you’re getting pissy about it from atop your horse? Oh boo hoo, boo hoo, cry to mommy.
Give me a break. Extremists… is there anything more annoying than an extremist?
