Mac snobbery hits fevered pitch, and other stuff

Post-Macworld the MacSnobbery and lifestyle angst has hit a new fevered pitch these past two days. A sampling of statements from five minute’s worth of Wired this morning:

“I like the Mac for the operating system and the computer,” said Kolb. “The iPod is cool, but the Mac is cooler. I would hate to see the iPod take over the company.” #

[...]

And there are concerns about the changing face of the Mac tribe: Hordes of new iPod users may be sullying the Mac experience. #

[...]

Krank said he couldn’t see the Mac mini taking off in education and replacing the eMac. “Anything small enough to put in a backpack doesn’t belong on a college campus,” he said. # [Damn you people, you people and your laptops! In my day we carried a PDP-11 on our backs and we liked it! - Ed.]

Repeat after me: The Mac is just a computer, it is not a reflection on the quality of my life or the value of my existence. Repeat that three times. No wait, two times. There is no three.

And this has got to be a sign of the coming apocalypse: John Dvorak likes the Mac Mini.

And Steve Jobs has a blog (not really, but it’s still entertaining).

And Griffin Technology is making more cool shit than I can even begin to keep up with. They make me want a regular iPod when rational thought makes me just want a Shuffle.

In other news Microsoft has announced the release of MSN Messenger 5 for Mac, which is very cool.
