That caught my eye this evening. First, a little snippet from the Prime Minister’s travel itinerary:

Prime Minister Paul Martin will travel to Haiti. The tentative travel itinerary is as follows:

November 14……….Depart Ottawa
November 14……….Arrive Haiti
November 14……….Depart Haiti
November 14……….Arrive Ottawa

The cost for return airfare (departing Ottawa), additional services (telephones and ground transportation) has been estimated at $800.00 (CND) per person. It is based on fifteen (15) participants

Dude, one day to Haiti and back? Relax, take a load off, take in some sights or check out a beach. And can you hook me up with your travel agent? $800 round trip to anywhere outside the country from Toronto is pretty damned good.

In other news, we’re all pretty fucked, so sayeth An Arctic alert on global warming:

Either change could accelerate warming by allowing the ocean to absorb solar heat. The change could threaten species such as polar bears and some seals with extinction. Researchers also worry that an influx of fresh water into the North Atlantic could disrupt large-scale ocean currents worldwide, altering weather patterns and the locations where nutrients rise from the depths to support regional fisheries.

Seriously Mr Prime Minister, enjoy Haiti while you can, Port-au-Prince is only 29 meters above sea level.
