This just in from the Government of Canada:

Peak Season at the Passport Office is Fast Approaching

Peak Season is fast approaching, and the Passport Office wants to remind Canadians to apply for their passports as far in advance of their travel date as possible.

“The demand for passport services is steadily increasing, and it is especially high during peak season at the Passport Office, which generally extends from November to March,” said Doreen Steidle, Chief Executive Officer of the Passport Office. “Our figures show up to 15,000 passports are issued every day during peak season, compared to 8,000 a day during the rest of the year,” she added.

Good advice, good advice. And in other news:

GOVERNMENT OF CANADA SUCCESSFUL IN REDUCING INSPECTION RATE OF CUT FLOWER EXPORTS TO THE US

The Government of Canada announced today that it has received official notification from the United States government that the level of inspection at ports of entry for shipments of cut flowers grown in Canada is reduced from 100 per cent to five per cent.

In September, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) imposed mandatory 100 per cent inspection of all shipments of cut flowers exported to the US. This resulted in many shipments of cut flowers being delayed, and in numerous cases, shipments were refused entry, based on the presence of insects that are not considered to be quarantine pests in either Canada or the US.

Who knew we exported cut flowers to anywhere and that its a big enough deal to even give a damn about? Wacky.
