Scientists vs. Politicians: fight!

I’m still on about this Genesis thing because I still find it so mind-blowingly cool that it was tried at all. Much thinking about that, coupled with watching a repeat of The Daily Show at work this afternoon (we do that everyday, don’t you?) got me to thinking:
On one hand we have two men vying for control of the most powerful country in the world and the best they can manage is to hair-pull and spit over who deserved what medal thirty years ago. That’s the pinnacle of political debate, the epitomy of intellectual discourse in their respective campaigns.
On the other hand we have a massive group of people coming together to quite literally go to the sun and attempt to capture a piece of it. The sun! Never been done before and it almost worked.
So when do I get the opportunity to start voting for the scientists and engineers? Can we give the smart people a chance now?
