A political ass-kicking

Forty minutes into the American presidential candidate’s debate and Bush is kicking some serious ass. This is like watching a dog battle a wet blanket: the dog gets a bit wet but has a grand ol’ time. The blanket, on the other hand, ….
Kerry gets bogged down in the fine points of who did what […]

Christian vs. Christian: FIGHT!

I’m glad to see all that nattering Jesus did about being kind to neighbours and not doing unto others before they do unto you has been having a soothing effect on the peace-loving Christians of the world, otherwise I’d be really worried:

Fistfights broke out yesterday between Christians gathered on the site of the crucifixion and […]

The punk rock, part II

If you liked those last two at all (you did so, admit it) then you just might get a hankerin’ for these guys: Suneatshours.
Their music is better than their singing but that goes without saying, now doesn’t it? Good times, especially if you’re drinking straight from the bottle and stomping on your couch cushions while […]

You like the punk rock?

I like the punk rock. While bumming around the TorrentVerse I can across a few punk bands I’d never heard of that are pretty damned good, if you like that sort of thing:
- Dogwood, “Seismic”. Hit and miss as far as this album goes, but the ones that hit are excellent.
- Welt, “Brand New Dream”. […]

Green Day, Holiday, and Jello Biafra?

Just listening to Green Day’s newest album “American Idiot” (and it’s really quite good, much better than their past stuff; they’re maturing). In the middle of “Holiday” a voice says: “The representative from California has the floor.”
This voice sounds suspiciously like Jello Biafra to me. Anyone confirm or deny?

Car towed in Toronto?

Then this is the information you need:

My car has been towed, how do I find it?
Police Parking Enforcement at 416-808-6600 will direct you to the location of your impounded car

From The City of Toronto FAQ.

Air is bad for oxygen?

I don’t mean to be a smart-ass but wouldn’t air bubbles in an oxygen-making machine be a good thing?

The main oxygen generator for the International Space Station has failed, and the two astronauts on board may have to tap into an attached cargo ship’s air supply next week, NASA said Thursday.

The generator — a balky […]

First useful piece of spam ever

After more than a decade of having spam land in my inbox I have just received, for the first time ever, spam for which, after having bothered to read it, I thought: “well now, that’s got my interests piqued.”
The spam is for tents and I, who do a lot of camping, am interested in […]

Scientists vs. Politicians: fight!

I’m still on about this Genesis thing because I still find it so mind-blowingly cool that it was tried at all. Much thinking about that, coupled with watching a repeat of The Daily Show at work this afternoon (we do that everyday, don’t you?) got me to thinking:
On one hand we have two men vying […]

Genesis: Thud

By now you’ve probably heard that the Genesis capsule slammed into the Utah desert, a disappointing ending to it’s journey.
Aside: the CBC article misleadingly states that the helicopter pilots “failed to snag it mid-air”. This was the plan and it was incumbent upon the capsule’s parachutes opening thus slowing the capsule to a catchable […]
