Oh so Daring

John “Daring Fireball” Gruber has made a contribution request to Daring Fireball’s reader in the hopes that he’ll be able to continue writing the site full-time as opposed to operating it as a hobby. But even more importantly: he’s selling t-shirts.

These sorts of shenanigans are nothing new in the blog world; it seems that most bloggers have done this at one point or another and generally I respond to this sort of thing with a “yeah yeah, whatever. Your posts are moderately amusing once in a blue moon but mostly I just hit ‘Mark All as Read’ in my aggregator to make you disappear”.

Not so with John. Whereas I, here, tend to simply regurgitate things that either annoy or amuse me John actually takes the time to write interesting, coherent, original Mac-related content. I may not always agree with it but I always look forward to his next post.

So I bought a t-shirt and, if you’re a rabid Mac fan who wants to help support the Mac-related publishing industry but doesn’t want to buy a subscription to the completely, sadly, craptastic MacWorld magazine (they can barely give those things away, fallen as far as they have from their glory days of relevance) then head over and get yourself a nice-looking t-shirt. And if not for yourself gents, then how about this: what special lady-friend of yours wouldn’t look fantastic with “Daring Fireball” plastered across her bow?*

(*I apologize for the nautical reference. I’ve been reading The Perfect Storm lately. It’s infinite orders of magnitude better than that piece of crap film Wolfgang Petersen should have been flayed alive for).
