RSS into Excel?

Ross over at Tucows off-handedly remarks:

I can see a lot of synergy between RSS and Microsoft’s various client applications (RSS into Excel? Yummy), but that’s just the consumption side of things.

My first reaction to this was: “into Excel??? Noooo!” I imagined the potential security exploits alone as RSS feed-reading/speadsheet-using users dump loads upon loads of enclosure-supporting RSS feeds into Excel, which happily opens the enclosures and executes those cute like macros like a plague of locust.

Or the sales team across the hall coming over and saying:

Sale: “I was just reading in Excel today that we should be conserving red pixels because we’re running out. Is this true?”
Me: “What? Yeah…. Send me the link.”
Sales: “I think it’s http://AA-67.”

But then I thought: “maybe Ross has an idea for this because he seems like a smart guy and he helps run a cool company with a cool product” so please Ross, expound, or I’m going to have Excel-induced nightmares tonight.
