Methane on Mars could signal life

I’m finding Mars fascinating lately, mainly because the rate of discovery in the past week has outpaced all previous Martian discovery in the past decade. In recent news: Mars has farts:

Methane has been found in the Martian atmosphere which scientists say could be a sign that life exists today on Mars.
…
There are two possible sources: either active volcanoes, none of which have been found yet on Mars, or microbes.

Microbes or volcanoes, either would be pretty damned cool.
