Down in Georgia the movement to abolish all practical education is well underway. First came literature, then science, and now, once again, literature because as we all know the thing that’s really fucking up their kids is books - them damned ideas what been put into print: Christians Try To Censor Georgia School’s Reading List
Three parents with the group Crusaders for Christ told members of the Bartow County Board of Education that several books are too offensive for students to be reading.
The group’s leader, the Rev. Dwight Holcomb, told board members, “You’re going to answer to God Almighty for your decision.”
Among the books the Crusaders for Christ want banned are “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck, “The Martian Chronicles” by Ray Bradbury and “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee.
It couldn’t be the bigotry, prejudice, zealotry and abject passing-of-the-repsonsibility buck at all, could it?

Uhm, this resembles Maoism in the 1970s, when Mao proclaimed, “The more you read, the more stupid you become.” He was, in fact, encouraging rebellion against intellectuals whom he saw as threats to his control of China. What followed is several years of chaos as China isolated itself from the rest of the world and forgot all about its rich civilisation.
