Crazy, crazy video of Tony Lamiche bagging the third ascent of The Fly (5.14d) down at Rumney: Tony Lamiche: The Fly.
He actually makes it look easy when he finally gets it. To gain some perspective on this go outside and look down at the road. Mentally fill in all the big cracks that look large enough to hold onto with road tar and then smooth the whole thing down. Now imagine that tilted at 115 degrees. That’s about right.
Update: I just read that Jason Kehl bouldered that climb. That is: climbed the entire thing without a rope, after working it over on top-rope to learn it. In other words: no margin for error, none at all. Damn.
