Sometimes you get lucky: you walk into the beer store, grab a case of something you’ve never had before, not expecting much, and get pleasantly surprised.
Cameron’s Auburn Ale is just such a beer. Brewed by Cameron’s Brewing Co. of Oakville, the Auburn Ale tastes fantastic. I was expecting something heavier and darker, along the lines of a Waterloo Dark, but the Auburn Ale is fairly light with a thoroughly pleasing front-of-the-mouth taste that’s almost reminiscent of fruit (no doubt the product of the hops selection, not to be confused with tastes like fruit) that drinks easily with no unpleasant aftertaste at all.
If you’re looking for something new to try, I’d have no trouble recommending this beer at all (it’d go really well with barbequed pork).
(Since the Cameron’s website is “under construction”, check out this link at The Bar Towel for more info on Cameron’s Brewing Co.).
