My free time has lately been occupied by reading “Phantoms in the Brain” by VS Ramachandran - an absolutely fascinating book exploring dissociations between the brain and body. Writing with wit and humour, similar in style to that of Oliver Sacks without the overwhelming sense of self-importance (I find Sacks’ work extrememly interesting but am not much a fan of his writing), Ramachandran easily and deftly delves into the intersections of neoroscience and self.
‘Course once you start reading something like that and it takes hold of your imagination, parallel works seem to just appear. Complimentary adjuncts: “The Key to Genius” and “The Zombie Within” (Thanks Kate!).
