Christian Schmitz has made half the plugins in his fabulous MonkeyBread REALbasic Plugin available for free use (the remainder are commercial). Notable among the free ones are: EventMonitor, Appearance, Rect, and FolderItems.

The plugins seem nice and everything, but the documentation on them seems poor. Other than the examples that come with it, it doesn’t really give you any information on how to actually implement and use them.
