A Feature Suggestion For Amazon

After completing today’s Amazon.ca order the site helpfully offered up these additional recommendations for me:

I’m quite impressed - those are three things I’d seriously consider getting… if I didn’t already own them all.

Dear Amazon: What I’d like to see is a checkbox beside each item that lets me indicate whether or not I already own the item (or perhaps a set of radio buttons so I can indicate “have” or “do not want”). I’m impressed now but I may not be so impressed if, the next time I order, I see those three things again.

To whom do I make this suggestion at Amazon?

(incidentally, today’s order was Jame Burke’s Connections, vol II, perhaps the greatest pop-science program to ever air on television.)

Update: Down in the comments Mark points out that Amazon already has this feature, it’s just not obvious and indeed they do and it isn’t. Turns out you have to click on the expanded suggestions, get the list view of them and then ta-da!

Good stuff Amazon. New feature request: more obvious.

Amazon actually already has this feature. It just isn’t always obvious. I think if you go to the page that only shows your recommendations you’ll find a check box next to each one to say you already own it or don’t want Amazon to use the item in recommendations. If it isn’t there, I do know it is somewhere on Amazon.
